Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica has implemented a large media facade system installation and commissioning project
September 24, 2018. Moscow — PJSC Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica (the Company), a leader of the Russian engineering market, completed a large media facade system installation and commissioning project in September 2018. This media facade consists of original elements developed specifically for this project and integrated into the mall's facade.
The project was implemented on request of the super-regional shopping and entertainment complex LETO (the LETO shopping mall), located on Pulkovskoye highway in St. Petersburg. IntiLED, a partner of Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica, has developed a lighting concept for the LETO shopping mall.
Ilya Kalenkov, General Director of PJSC Evropeyskaya Elektrotekhnica, commented on this event: “Our Company has confirmed its specialists' qualification by carrying out this major non-typical project at a proper level of quality, as well as by taking into account the limitations of the work (at night hours and during business days only). Due to the high complexity, the project implementation required a little more time than both the customer and Company project team had previously expected. However, the project has been successfully completed; the media facade operates smoothly and has already become a place of interest in the southern gate of St. Petersburg. This challenging project has strengthened our partnership with IntiLED, with whom we have been cooperating for about 5 years. Currently we are implementing a whole portfolio of projects using IntiLED's lighting solutions.”
Scale of the project:
The LETO shopping mall's main facade has floral ornament of metal decorative elements in the shape of twigs with petals. In the daytime such a large-scale and original solution attracts potential customers, but in the dark it is lost against the background of the mall's bright advertising signs. Thus its architectural lighting was aimed at solving this problem and emphasizing the unique appearance of the building in the evening and at night. During work on the lighting concept, specialists decided not to limit themselves to emphasizing the facade, but to create another dynamic lighting solution.
This was achieved by using polycarbonate lightboxes made in the form of petals, repeating the metal elements of the facade. The lightboxes were specially designed to emit as even a light as possible, equal in brightness on their entire surface. Each petal is illuminated from the inside by lighting fixtures of the IntiDOT series, which allows us to control each lightbox and to "breathe life" into the petals. In addition to the petals, IntiDOT LED garlands with 300 mm spacing are used to illuminate the twigs of the structure. For this purpose, the garlands were installed in rigid housing on brackets along the metal structures. The IP65 protection degree (IP67 for the driver) ensures a long product service life (at least 50,000 hours) in a wide temperature range from -40°C to +55°C.
The entire facade is controlled pixel by pixel using MADRIX software, which makes it possible to create different dynamic, color-changing light solutions. The lighting provides the following scenarios of operation: standard static and low-dynamic every day scenarios, scenarios for New Year holidays, public holidays, and big sports victories. Moreover, they are programmed to automatically change in the seasons: winter, spring, summer, and autumn.
REFERENCE:
The LETO shopping mall is one of the largest super-regional shopping and entertainment complexes in St. Petersburg. Its total area is 116,000 sq.m. The mall was built in 2011 on Pulkovskoye highway near road interchanges and a ring road. The unique concept of the facade's design creates excellent visual perception of the shopping mall. There are more than 170 shops, a spacious food court, an ice rink, a trampoline park and cinemas with a capacity of more than 1,300 seats on two floors of LETO. Auchan, Media Markt, Decathlon, Leonardo and Luxor are among anchor tenants of the facility.
